Hello, I'm Josh.
As your therapist, I will offer you both therapeutic insight and unconditional support, and will help you locate inner resources that allow you to change, grow, and lead a richer and more fulfilling life.

I can help you address the often debilitating symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, or PTSD, and give you coping tools and communication skills that will help you resolve conflict and improve relationships.

While I work with individuals, couples, and families from a wide variety of backgrounds, I specialize in addressing the needs of trauma survivors, many of whom are members of the LGBTQ+ community.

My Clients
I work with individual adults, couples, and families from a wide range of socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds, and in particular, I welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community. Engaging with a diverse clientele is a core principle of my practice, and I make sure to create space to acknowledge our intersectional identities so that our collaboration will be authentic.
My Experiences
In graduate school, I completed an advanced-year program in Child & Adolescent Trauma. In the years afterward, I worked within the criminal justice system, providing therapy to survivors of crime. And today, I continue to dedicate at least twenty percent of my practice to working with individuals living at or below the poverty line who are recovering from chronic PTSD.
My Approach
In our initial sessions, I'll focus on engagement and trust-building, and invite you to share your personal narrative. I will treat you as the expert of your own experience, and provide support as you gain crucial insights that will help you change and grow. Within this non-judgmental space, I will offer you validation and empathy, while also respectfully challenging any beliefs that may stand in your way.
Experiences that inform my practice
I am a published author of young-adult fiction, and as a writer, my focus was on adolescents and families recovering from traumatic experiences. When I transitioned to social work, I began by working with families very much like those I wrote about in my fictional work.
While attaining my graduate degree in social work, I completed an advanced year National Child Trauma Stress Network program in child and adolescent trauma, working as a pre-licensed therapist in both school and outpatient settings. After earning my degree, I began working within the criminal justice system with adolescents and adults facing misdemeanor and felony allegations. I offered these clients support as they navigated substance disorders, housing instability, mental illness, and other traumatic stressors of poverty.
During the pandemic, I shifted my focus to providing online and in-person therapy to adults, emerging adults, and families, with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ individuals and survivors of complex trauma.
